LOCKDOWN SHOWCASE
Each participant is placed on a team that will participate in three fun, theater-based challenges
against one another. Working virtually with their Director, participants will receive individual
instruction that builds on their existing acting and/or singing skills. Each participant will have
their individual challenge performance recorded and added to those of their team mates, which
will then be showcased online on three dates: October 2nd, November 6th, and December 4th.
Online viewers will be able to vote for their favorite team each month.
Each week the directors will meet one-on-one through Zoom with each participant on their
team. These practices will be scheduled between the participant and their director. There will
also be a Zoom group meeting held each Thursday from 6:30-8:00 pm. Team members will be
able to give each other feedback and may collaborate virtually on performances under the
guidance of their team director.
Auditions will require an approximately 30 second oral reading, which can be chosen from the
linked monologues attached below. Contestants may also include an additional singing audition (a
single verse and chorus of a song of your choosing). Contestants should submit their video
auditions no later than September 4th through a private YouTube link emailed to
[email protected] or through Young Actors Guild Facebook messenger.
A limited number of spots are available to participate - submit your audition and registration
form soon!
A registration form for each contestant should be completed and submitted via the attached link (https://forms.gle/Vtu58U13WPk1pGxx8).
A registration fee of $10 per participant will be due by September 4th
(payable to paypal.me/youngactorsguild).
Team directors will be Brianna Barkus, Amber Frushon, and Jennifer Meekins.
FAQ
Q: Is this just another talent show?
A: No! This is more like a theater workshop, where the participants will learn how to impact an
audience and increase their confidence and performance skills along the way.
Q: What measures are being taken to protect my child from COVID-19 exposure?
A: All rehearsals and performances will take place remotely. For team members who wish to
collaborate, they will record their parts separately and will not need to meet in person.
Q: I have more than one child who wishes to participate. Can they be on the same team?
A: We will be doing our best to make sure each team has a good diversity of ability levels.
Siblings will not automatically be put together. If you feel strongly that you want them together
(or if you feel strongly that they should not be together) please let us know when you submit
the audition video.
Q: Can my children audition together?
A: No. We need a separate audition from each child.
