 Code of Conduct

The Young Actors Guild, Inc., founded in 2013, is a non-profit corporation staffed completely by volunteers. In order to foster an environment where all children can have a positive experience, it is necessary for everyone to abide by certain rules.

Attendance Policy 

1. You are allowed three (3) absences during the rehearsal process. Absences beyond this number may necessitate recasting or dismissal from the cast.  

2. Attend all performances (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Rehearsal Policy 

1. All cast is expected to arrive by 7:50 pm to check in.  Rehearsal begins promptly at 7:00 (NO EXCEPTIONS). Habitual tardiness may necessitate recasting. Please be on time.

2. There will be one bathroom break during rehearsals. Please have your child use their home facilities before they arrive to ensure they can wait comfortably until our break.

3.Do not touch anything that does not belong to you. 


4.The line prompter is the only person permitted to prompt an actor for lines. If you need to be prompted, call “line” while in character.

5.Dress appropriately for rehearsal. In general, wear comfortable clothing you can move in. The director won’t be able to adjust rehearsals to accommodate your clothing choice. 

Behavior and Conduct

1. Kindness and respect is expected by everyone.  No insulting, name-calling, teasing or any other form of bullying will be permitted.

2. QUIET—during rehearsal, seated cast is expected to show respect for cast members on stage and refrain from loud talking. Keep your voice and laughter down even when in the dressing room. There is no talking AT ALL while backstage. 



3. Turn off all phones and other electronics during rehearsals. You may use electronic devices during the break.

4. Cast & crew will refrain from touching others in any harmful or inappropriate way.

5. Cast & crew will not use foul language.

6. Cast & crew will not conduct in any horseplay.

7. Cast & crew will not participate in any illegal or physical activities that would be seen as inappropriate. 

8. Cast & crew must respect the property of the Smyrna Music Garden and The Young Actors Guild. 

9. Cast & crew must stay in the supervision of the director or appointed volunteers at all times. Cast & crew will not wander building and/or property without approved adult supervision.  

Costumes & Props

1. Do not touch props or costumes not assigned to you.

2. Be sure to hang up all costume pieces and return all props immediately after use. 


3 You are not allowed to change, embellish, or remove any piece of your costume during performance.

4. All hair styles and stage makeup are to be done by a member of the makeup team. NO EXCEPTIONS.   

Injuries 

1. Safety is our first priority; however, if an injury occurs you must let the stage manager or director know IMMEDIATELY!

Food & Drink 

1. No food or drink other than water is allowed in rehearsal areas.

Dismissal from the Show

1. In the event that a cast or crew member is to be recast or dismissed from a show, the director and board members of Young Actors Guild will collectively make the decision.

2. Decisions made by The Young Actors Guild board are final.

Other Expectations

1. Cast and crew will be expected to forego social activities that interfere with rehearsals.

2. Cast & crew under age 16 are not allowed to leave the rehearsal area until they have been signed out by a parent/guardian.

Participation Fees

1. The fee for all actors, speaking and non-speaking, is $40 per play. This covers the cost of scripts, costumes, props, and sets.

2. The fee for all non-acting participants, i.e. stage crew, lights, is $25 per play.

3. The fee to replace lost scripts is $10 per script for all participants.

4. Bounced checks will be assessed a fee of $36. Payment will need to be resubmitted in cash only.

5. Payment is due the first night of rehearsal. Actors will not receive a script until payment has been received.

6. Payments constitute a commitment to participate in the production and are final and non-refundable.
